Irmgard Emmelhainz

Irmgard Emmelhainz is a theory professor at La Esmeralda since 2012. She has been invited to teach seminars, give lectures, and courses at internationally renowned institutions. Her essays and work on film, art, politics, and culture have been translated into over a dozen languages, including Indonesian, French, Arabic, and Chinese. Her writings have been published in e-flux journal, Campo de relámpagos, ArtMargins, October, Nexos, Revista de la universidad, among others. Her most recent books include “El cielo está incompleto: Cuadernos de viaje en Palestina” (Taurus 2017, Vanderbilt 2023), “La tiranía del sentido común: la reconversión posneoliberal de México” (SUNY 2021, Debate 2023), “Amores tóxicos, futuros imposibles: el vivir feminista como manera de resistencia” (Vanderbilt 2022, Taurus 2022), “Envíos de otros mundos posibles” (Ejercicios de imaginación radical) (Bajo Tierra, 2023). She is a member of Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores in the essay category.
